Parisian Laundry inaugure sa saison 2008 avec les oeuvres somptueuses et ludiques de l'artiste canadienne Janet Werner. Un bonheur trop intense nous permet d'explorer l'univers séduisant et très personnel de Janet, qui mêle le kitsch et la peinture à numéros, les aléas de la mode et de troublants personnages féminins. Connue au niveau international pour ses très grands portraits, Janet Werner a pris un virage significatif en intégrant ses personnages à des paysages décalés. Une authentique émotion émane de chaque œuvre, née de la disjonction entre l'état d'esprit des sujets et l'atmosphère générale des tableaux.
Parisian Laundry opens its spring 2008 program with the gorgeous and playful work of Canadian painter Janet Werner. Too much happiness, surveys Janet's seductive world of kitsch, paint-by-numbers, the tropes of fashion and girls, girls, girls! Known internationally for her large portraits, Werner has made a pivotal change by inserting her fictional figures into displaced landscapes. There is a deep and convincing moodiness that separates each work, a disjuncture between the psychological mood of the subjects and the overall mood of the paintings.

ST-FRANCIS COMES TO MONTREAL
Radeq Brousil, jeune photographe basé à Prague, présente une ménagerie d'animaux sauvages qui folâtrent dans leur environnement alors qu'un étranger paisible interagit avec eux. Ces épisodes se jouent de la légende du saint patron, en créant des fictions tirées de vérités et des vérités tirées de fictions.
Prague based photographer Radeq Brousil presents a menagerie of wild animals frolicking in their environment while an estranged and peaceful figure interacts with them. These incidents play off the legends of the patron saint creating fictions from truth and truths from fiction.
